March is Autoimmune Disease Awareness Month. Did you know there are more than 100 autoimmune diseases. Celiac being one of them. That made me start to think that Celiac or not there are a lot that will benefit from a Gluten free diet. I recently got a book about Thyroid disorders and one of the main things they tell you to avoid is Wheat.
Tonight my son is at a friends house. So of course I get the call if they can sleep over. So 4 boys are sleeping at his friends house. I run him over his food and sleep over stuff. I am there and find out the other boy is trying the Gluten free diet. My son was so happy he was not the only one. lol What I have learned about the Gluten Free diet when you have kids is, if they get a few good friends and parents then they are not any different than anyone else. They don’t have to feel like a outsider or different. So remember the Gluten Free diet does not label you or define you. It is just something you do that makes you be You and good friends will be there for you either way. Now family on the other hand sometimes takes a little more time to get them to understand. That is a whole other story.
So this month remember there are a lot of autoimmune disease out there and everyone is dealing with them in different ways. But remember you are not alone.
